The writer J.R.R. Tolkien said, "I believe that legends and myth are largely made of truth." I could say the same thing. I truly believe in those words are true. Legends are the truth from long ago, myth is someone saying something.

I believe in the quote, that legends and myths are made of truth. It was said to have teeth suckers, it didn’t. People said that it was huge and it was, also the eyes were huge the size of basketballs. The size was the same and the weight.

It said that the tentacles wrapped around the boat. The tentacles are big to fit around that, and scientist said that the tentacle they pulled up on there boat was eighteen feet long. Steve o’shea said that they eyes were big and the scientist said they were the size of a basketball.

So overall I agree with the quote and I think that myths and legends are made of truth, the squid was true it was huge and has fast reflects.

Do you believe in tooth fairies, mermaids, Greek gods and goddesses? What about monster myths? Do you believe those myths are true? Although you may not see all of them, or maybe you never will, that doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t exist! I agree with the author J.R.R. Tolkien because all stories start with something true.
Yes, the “Kraken” is, of course, an exaggeration as well, but it originated from truth. With enormous eyes and suction cup tentacles, it was difficult for sailors to convince commoners that this monster was real, and of course, no one could prove they were real since the “kraken” had such a quick-reacting nerve system that enabled it to go “darting away from cameras or nets”. People soon brought 19 foot tentacles with them when they came back from sea but villagers still didn’t believe this myth. People kept insisting that this so called monster; the “Kraken” was so large that it tore apart ships to get to the people within the ships, just to eat them. They were said to have had the pleasure to attack human voyagers, and yes, again, plan to eat them. But at the time, people didn’t have a big enough imagination to possibly think that the “Kraken” might be a real beast.
Nothing was officially proven until 2005, when two men off the coast of Japan followed a sperm whale which led them to a squid’s lair. These men then captured 500 photos or more while they filmed this monstrous beast as well. Many people think that the reason for humans not being able to find giant squids could have been fault to the fact that squids live thousands of feet below the water’s surface, farther than humans have the capability to go. But compared to myth, the beast was exaggerated, but the truth still had some of the same descriptions as the myth. Giant squids still had enormous eyes and tentacles that were similar to suction cups. Their quick-reacting nerve system was real too.
Many of the actual traits of a squid were very similar with the myths of the Kraken, which means all the stories made in the past had to have begun with a witness who saw a real live giant squid-the truth. I definitely agree with J.R.R. Tolkien- all myths are largely made of truth, and will continue to be so.

The writer J.R.R. Tolkien said, "I believe that legends and myth are largely made of truth." I do agree because of the information from the passages.

I disagree because sailors have told all kinds of stories when they come home frm sailing. They told about beasts attacking people and ships. There are also alot of stories and novels and other things that tell about water beasts. They might be true but there arent that many things that can tell that they are or arent.

In the story by Jules Verne, it was about how a giant squid was atacking a human being. But that wasn’t a real story. People can’t really get in contact with these animals because they live so far deep down under the ocean where no human being can swim to. Also we don’t really know if or if not giant squids are hurtful.

Some might be true and some mght not but the truth is we probely will never know. Everyone had different stories and imaginations so no one can tell if legends and myths are real. It really is only about what you belive. There might be a legend that isn’t true but some people really believe it, then it is about what they beleive and is legends and myths largely mad out of truth? We can’t tell because everyone is different and we do not know who is lying and who is telling the truth.
